Gong Li is currently getting much flak for her decision to do the legal version of saying “Screw it!” to her Chinese citizenship to become a Singaporean.
Renouncing their Chinese-ness seems to be the new black among Chinese celebrities. For instance, the ass-kicking and wall-scaling Jet Li is now American (gotta love them breakfast cereals!). Unlike other more exciting countries, China doesn’t allow dual citizenship. Gong Li, however, has yet to directly give the finger to her critics as she’s currently filming some non-Chinese movie, hanging out with non-Chinese friends, eating non-Chinese food, and saying wonderful stuff like “Burger! Burger! Burger!”

Um, she just finished filming a movie called” “Shanghai”. So much for making ‘Un -Chinese” movies.
