Luck Rules Yoon Eun-hye And Han Ye-seul’s Universe

Yoon Eun-hye

The common thread between Coffee Prince star Yoon Eun-hye and Couple or Trouble’s Han Ye-seul was luck. If you must know, Coffee Prince was actually offered to 200-pound Beauty star Kim A-joong, but at that time (mid-2007) she had an exclusive contract with a shampoo company that forbade her, A-joong, to cut her hair short. So the offer went to Yoon Eun-hye, who was only too glad to have people do whatever shit to her hair and take on the role.

Eventually, Coffee Prince, as everyone knows, has been a huge hit Asia-wide, and has made wonders to Eun-hye’s career: now, she is one of the few Korean stars who command an exorbitant talent fee, and you even see Eun-hye’s image in almost every commodity in Korea (probably bad for her in the long run because of “fan fatigue”, but still).

Han Ye-seul

On the other hand, Han Ye-seul got her landmark Couple or Trouble gig because Uhm Jung-hwa was so busy promoting her 9th album. However, Han ye-seul would later commit the same kind of mistake when she refused the lead role in the TV series My Name Is Kim Sam-soon, which subsequently served as a jackpot for the consequent Kim Sam-soon star Jeong Ryeo.

Kim A-joong

200-pound Beauty star Kim A-joong (above) was tied to her contract with a shampoo company (notice the bouncy hair?) when Coffee Prince came along. Hence, Yoon Eun-hye. As an aside, Kim A-joong got the role that made her ultra-famous (as the “fake fat girl with the golden voice” in 200-pound Beauty) in the same way Eun-hye got Coffee Prince: because nobody else wanted it.

Also: would you fuck Kim A-joong if she still looked like this?

So that’s it: a great “hallyu” (Korean wave) story for a Sunday, eh?
